    Part-time Evening Program

Beginning in fall 2025, the law school’s part-time evening program will be a hybrid, blended learning program, which offers evening students greater convenience and flexibility while maintaining academic rigor, a dynamic classroom experience, and the sense of community that come from in-person learning.

In this Flex JD program, students will attend class in person just two evenings per week, typically between 6-9:30pm. The program will employ a mix of instructional modalities. Some courses will be traditional in-person courses. Others will be “blended,” combining one day of in-person instruction with online learning, including instructional videos, written assignments, and virtual “discussions” with classmates and faculty. The curriculum will be identical to our day program and will be taught by the same faculty members.

Commuters will enjoy easy public transit access, especially the convenience of Penn Station, one block away.

The basic format of the evening program is that it's stretched out over four years. Classes are taught in the evening and night. So it's important to realize the evening program is a full JD. You complete all 87 units the same way you would in the three-year program. But it stretched out over four years. When I was looking at the evening program that was extremely important to me to know that the same full-time faculty that teaches in the day program also teaches in the evening program. Within the legal community, UB graduates have a tremendous reputation. And I think knowing that evening students graduated with the same learning experience as the day students continues that reputation not only for the school as a whole, but also for the student body. Evening students, especially. The same faculty who are teaching daytime classes are also teaching evening classes. And I in particular -- I teach a clinic that focuses on evening students. So all of our client work, all of our clinic responsibilities, can be done evenings and weekends. So if you're the kind of student who has a full-time job, you cannot take any daytime hours off in order to do schoolwork that is just fine for us because it works perfectly with our own client base. And we can schedule around that 100%. I live about an hour away. And to be honest, coming into this program, the commute was something I was a little bit nervous about. It's actually turned out to be very easy. This school is very accessible with lots of major highways. So the hustle and bustle of the city driving is actually a very, very small part of my daily commute.
